If those trailing arms were made out of DOM tubing and not pipe, they may be okay. Hell even pipe wouldn’t be too bad - just raises questions of weld integrity.
Meanwhile, I spot a ‘41 Dodge pickup and IHI mini trackhoe in the background. Noice on both counts.

I knew I recognized those from somewhere.

I’ve come to learn on the internet (especially CL) a “rat rod” is any falling apart car with lots of rust that someone failed at restoring and they’re trying to dump it off on someone else.

Yeah, more or less. This looks like a legit attempt at building a rat rod.

That’s probably it. I was thinking shallow-slope steel roof truss.

Wow, it appears he accidentally added a zero to the end of his price

It does have a running flathead v8, tranny and what looks like and original frame and front end. It’s gotta be worth it in parts alone.

Maybe, but perhaps the drivetrain is in the same condition as David Tracy’s jeep was. I believe his engine ran when he got it, yet it turned out everything needed to be replaced.

Still worth way more than $580

Say $1,000 then. As fascinated as I am with flatheads, I wouldn’t touch this with a 10 foot pole.

ladderbar rear suspension, three link.
its one step below a 4 link in terms of adjustability. the furthest forward point, the instant center, is where the torque/ lift is transferred to. the further forward ahead of the *center of gravity(? name for the point exactly where the front to back weight is 50/50) the bars mounting point, the more tendency to want to lift the front end...... fun stuff. its how you can make a drag car dead hook, and just leave, or lift the front tires, and carry them.......
